Stamp of approval - “Forever Stamp” Provides First Class Postage
When does 42 cents cost a penny less?
When you use a “Forever Stamp” you buy today to mail letters after May 12th.
The cost of sending a first class letter will climb by one cent this May to 42 cents. But the way to skirt this increase (and any others down the road) is to buy a passel of what the Post Office calls the “Forever Stamp.”
They’ve been around since last April and according to Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer John E. Potter they will stand the test of time because they will be good for mailing one-ounce First-Class letters anytime in the future — regardless of price changes. But bear in mind that the date the new price is implemented the cost of the “Forever” will rise to match it.
The good news is that people who purchase these stamps won’t have to monkey around with those silly one and two cent add ons to get rid of any old stamps. If there’s any downside, though, it’s that the stamp is just plain ugly. Oh well.
You can get the “Forevers” at local post office counters or online or at many convenience and grocery stores.
