Happy Birthday Nicole (my lovely and beloved wife)

Telluride Hillside upon Our Wedding DayApril 22nd.

Earth Day for the past several decades. And birthday as well for Nicole, my lovely and beloved wife.

Before meeting Nicole my demeanor toward such days as this was cavalier and dismissive. Likely it stemmed from the sentiments of my kin, those southsiders known as the McCareys for whom birthdays were just another day among many. And as such, it was nothing special.

And yet this is far from the truth.Wife Throttles Husband for Artistic Gain

Having had a nonchalant attitude inculcated into me from a young age toward birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and the like it is an exercise to defeat these demons. But at a fundamental level today I see one’s birthday as a moment in time to be cherished and exulted and trumpeted. And today I celebrate having been taught true lessons by you.

So I wish to share this wish with my wife and the rest of this online community that includes friends, family, clients past and future, old friends, and strangers.

Happy Birthday Nicole.

You are my best friend and comrade who encourages me to ascend and to achieve. With you anything is possible. I thank you and deeply love you for this gift. We are blessed with our likenesses in our sons Jackson and Lucas to whom you are an absolutely amazing mother. And we are surrounded by the love of our family and friends who encourage us and enable us to be buoyant in this activity we call life.

The Night Train to Rome in Sleeping CarMay you and I, our sons and families, and those reading this message perceive and celebrate the gift of life on this and every day.

Happy Birthday.
