Chicago Condo Flies High Online in The New York Times
Last week my cell phone buzzed. The prefix was 203, a sequence of numbers that didn’t immediately jog my memory.
But with a passel of real estate listings here in Chicago it’s not unusual to get calls from different places, folks with different start places looking for a place in this place (sorting through and looking for Chicago real estate for sale, that is). This time, though, it wasn’t an out-of-towner looking for a place to live. Instead it was an out-of-towner working for a newspaper wanting to use one of my high end condo listings for an online article.
Having been interviewed by small outfits and college newspapers about the state of the market, what I enjoyed about this request is that it was from the paper of record as it is known in the United States – The New York Times. What the fellow wanted was my two bed/two bath condo at 1055 N Hermitage in Chicago’s East Village neighborhood to represent one of three homes in three very different locales at a similar price point.
After clearing it with my very great selling clients we agreed and set up an appointment the following Friday for the Times photographer to take pictures for the online article.
And so the photographer came and spent the greater part of an hour snapping pix of the tasteful and spacious home, commenting on the cherry hardwood floors, the floating staircase to the fully decked private rooftop, the 12-foot ceilings, the gourmet kitchen, and the proximity to one of Chicago’s grooviest streets – Division. And generating a handful of lovely snapshots.
